Oh, Sue, you could not have created more loving gifts. I told everyone the story of your business (I have trouble calling it a business though; it is more of a mission.), and the comfort I felt leaving Mom's quilt with you. I told them of a vivid dream I had about my parents, and someone holding my hand and walking me to bed. |

MADE HERE
By Marcia Pledger
PRODUCT: Customized Teddy Bears
BRAND NAME: Memories To Hold
WHERE IT’S MADE: Chesterland, OH
HOW IT’S MADE: After talking with a client to learn the history of the fabric and the sentiment involved, material is cut by placing pattern pieces on the most significant parts of the garment.
Ten pattern pieces are stitched on a sewing machine before each piece is stuffed with poly-fil. The pieces are then hand sewn, attaching movable arms and legs. Each bear is then accessorized with black button eyes.
Depending on the garment, pockets, cuffs, logos or lace are added. Bears measure 18 inches.
HOW IT’S USED: The bears are used as comfort items, visual memories to hug, reminisce and snuggle with. “Most of my clients are people who send me garments from a loved one’s favorite clothing item that they want me to transform into a teddy bear. They’re often custom designed keepsakes from a significant person or event,” said Susan Soroczak, owner.
BACKGROUND: The Company was founded in 2003 by Soroczak after encouragement from friends and family who saw a teddy bear she made from her father’s flannel shirt after he died. Memories To Hold creates keepsake teddy bears, pillows and quilt throws, made from materials ranging from ivory wedding dresses and team sports to military service uniforms.
